Deltacide® is an effective pyrethroid spray to control your pest problems combining rapid knockdown and kill.
Space spray concentrate
Deltacide® is one of the choices for the control of public health pests such as mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches. It can also be used in the presence of stored foodstuffs for the control of warehouse moths, weevils and beetles.
Deltacide® contains Esbiol (S-bioallethrin) for quick knockdown and flushing action combined with deltamethrin for efficient kill. Deltacide’s insect killing action is further enhanced with the addition of piperonyl butoxide.
Deltacide® can be used either for thermal fogging or ULV treatments both indoor and outdoor. ULV treatments especially allow for greater speed and efficiency in large scale control of insect pests.
Deltacide® is particularly suitable for use in public areas such as markets, hotels, airports and private housing where water dilutions provide efficient insect control without damage to furnishings. Water dilutions also increase acceptability of the formulation for large scale, house to house fogging operations as are used to control vector of dengue haemorrhagic fever, malaria and filariasis.
Deltacide® used as an outdoor ULV treatment enables fast and efficient large scale control of flies and mosquitoes in urban areas. It is suited for the professional users or pest control industry.
Timing of Treatment
Application of Deltacide® by thermal fogging or ULV must be timed correctly to achieve optimum results. Flying insects have peak flight activity periods which should be identified allowing treatments to coincide and result in maximum impact.
For example, Aedes aegypti control is usually carried out during early morning and early evening using house to house fogging, whereas Anopheles control is carried out during the evening as mosquitoes migrate in from their breeding and resting sites.
Fly control should take place in the early morning about an hour after sunrise. At this time flies are gathering on walls to warm in the sun as they prepare to disperse. The inclusion of Esbiol in Deltacide® activates these resting flies ensuring they pick up a high dose of insecticide as they take off into the spray cloud.
To ensure efficient use against flying insects, outdoor treatments should not take place when it is raining or when wind speeds are in excess of around 10 km per hour. Such conditions drastically reduce the efficiency of the spray.
Frequency of Treatment
Both thermal fogging and ULV treatments are mainly designed to control flying insects. They do not give residual protection.
Space spray treatments are therefore used either to control the adult population quickly such as in epidemic situations or they are used on a regular basis as part of a programme to suppress adult populations.
General Pest Control
There are many locations where the pest problem is a complex of flying and crawling insects. Examples include markets, hospitals, government housing complexes, warehouses, etc.
In addition to killing flies, mosquitoes and moths, Deltacide can at the recommended dose flush out and kill crawling insects, such as cockroaches and stored product pests. It is best to aim the spray at likely insect hiding places to obtain good penetration.
Deltacide can also be used to treat inaccessable drains sewers and refuse chutes, where residual insecticides cannot be used. This is especially important around hospital where cockroaches may carry gastro-intestinal diseases into wards through the drainage systems.
